Hand Rejuvenation

Do you hands give away your age? Nowadays so many people have cosmetic treatments on their face to make themselves look younger. But when people look at their hands they can tell. It doesn’t have to be that way. We can now turn back the hands of time with the Hand Rejuvenation treatment.

What happens to my hands as I age?

Over time there are a number of changes in the hands, specifically the back of the hands. The backs of the hands are exposed to the sun and as a result you see dark spots and wrinkles. At the same time, you naturally lose volume in your skin in the hands, just like in the face. This leads to the appearance of veins and tendons on the backs of the hands.

How can I treat aging in the hands?

Fortunately, we can treat these signs of aging in the hands. The same kinds of treatments that are used to treat aging on other areas such as the face can also be used on the hands. In the hands there are three major changes: volume loss, loose skin (wrinkles), and sun spots. Volume loss can be treated with fillers while loose skin and sun spots can be treated using lasers. Voluma is a dermal filler that is used to restore lost volume in the skin. Although Voluma is most commonly used in the face, it can also be used in other areas. Voluma is a perfect product for the hands because it volumizes the skin very well, lasts for a long time, and is safe. The active ingredient in Voluma is hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Voluma draws water into the skin to restore the lost volume.

Sun spots on the backs of the hands are easily treated using the Forever Young BBL IPL photofacial treatment. This uses bright light to target and destroy the dark spots. Dr. Alex recommends combining the Forever Young BBL IPL photofacial treatment with an Ultra Microneedling treatment, a combination called the #nofilter treatment. Unlike traditional microneedling, which uses tiny needles to make holes in the skin, Ultra Microneedling uses a laser technology to create the holes. In this way, there are no needles, there is no bleeding, the recovery time is short, the treatment is fast, and the results are even better. Ultra Microneedling stimulates your body to form its own natural, new, fresh, and healthy collagen. This will tighten the skin and improve the appearance of wrinkles on the backs of your hands.

When will I see results with hand rejuvenation?

You will see some of your results right away, while other results take time. The volume restoration with Voluma provides an immediate effect. So you will see the volumization right away. The veins and tendons in the backs of your hands will be less apparent immediately. The results of the #nofilter treatment take longer. Sun spots can takes several treatments to go away completely. Also tightening of the skin takes time because your body will produce collagen slowly over time. Dr. Alex recommends a series of three to six #nofilter treatments on the hands once a month.

Will the hand rejuvenation treatment hurt?

Dr. Alex uses a painless technique when performing the hand rejuvenation treatment. First numbing cream is placed on your skin for about 15 minutes. This makes the treatment very comfortable. Also, during the laser treatments we blow cold air on your skin to keep you comfortable. Dr. Alex uses a canula to deposit Voluma in the hands. A canula is a device attached to the syringe to deposit the product in the skin. Unlike a needle a canula does not have a sharp tip. Additionally, a canula is long and flexible. This allows Dr. Alex to insert the canula in only one point on the skin. Both of these things decrease the risk of bruising.

How long do the hand rejuvenation results last?

Most people enjoy the results of fillers such as Voluma in the hands for one to two years. The more active you are with your hands the more frequently you will require a maintenance treatment. For the dark spots, most people enjoy results with just a single #nofilter treatment, but some people require a series of up to six treatments. After that maintenance treatments are done once every three to six months.

Am I a good candidate for hand rejuvenation?

If you have visible veins or tendons on the backs of your hands or if you have wrinkles or sun spots you are a good candidate for hand rejuvenation.
